Ease
of fabrication, fine
transparent looks, lighter
weight, break resistance,
and weather resistance are some
of the qualities that make
this material so pleasurable
to work with.
The ease of fabrication
allows acrylic to be cut, drilled,
machined and formed into
just about any shape. You'll
find that pound for pound,
acrylic sheets only weigh
approximately 43% of the
comparably sized aluminum
and only about 50% the weight
of equivalent glass designs.
Despite this weight difference,
products made from quality
acrylic sheets are durable,
displaying between 6x to
17x more impact resistance
than glass. Shock, however,
as might result from droppage, can result in cracking
or sometimes breakage
so care does need to be
taken. Plus, many
acrylic items withstand
years of outdoors use;
and, though these
lecterns are suggested
for indoors, their
placement for occasional
outdoor events provides
a handsome
presentation stand.

The
transparent good looks and
styling of this product
is an incentive to use it
in your business, religious
setting, or club organization.
It's therefore very important
you take proper care of
these products:
Do not clean with any
cleanser that contains
ammonia. It's also not
recommended for you to
rub off dust or dirt
either with your hands,
a dry cloth, paper towel
or rough textured
material, because this
could press the dust
into the acrylic. Too,
it's obvious
that using rough material
may potentially scratch
lecterns.
Instead, first either float
away the loose dirt material
with a soft, wet sponge
(alternately, you can blow
the material off the surface).
Second, remove a more stubborn
stain or mark using a mild
dish detergent in warm water
on a soft wet sponge. Dry
with a soft, damp chamois.
What happens if the plexiglass
does get scratched? Fine
scratches may be removed
by using specialized products
designed for this purpose
that you can find at many
office furniture stores
or on-line retailers.
These high quality lecterns
are truly fine furniture
and deserve respectful attention.
