Chalkboards, necessary for the visual learner and an asset to the teacher or lecturer, are made even more appealing with customized frames and surfaces. Add a positive mark to any teaching / learning situation on our Vitracite boards. Framed in an aluminum powder coated trim, this porcelain enamel steel surface brings a lively writing area to any room, with many available color choices. Board backing is 3/8" Duracore "core" material with Mylar film moisture barrier backing and the porcelain-on-steel "face" is 24 gauge steel for excellent durability and long lasting usability. Sizes range from 2'h x 3'w to a super wall-covering size of 4'h x 16'w. These attractive yet functional boards are able to accept magnets and include a full length chalk tray (chalk trough), map rail with tan cork insert and map hooks and are shipped to you ready to mount.

Custom made chalk boards have an option of twenty-four trim color and three surface color choices. Functional designing doesn't have to be dull. We highlight the three most popular frames that can be used with your choice of the three board surface colors. However, you have the option of calling us to order either the Clearcite green, black or charcoal grey surfaces to one of the 21 additional colors of powder coated finished trims. You'll find these optional trims help create a positive visual background for your written comments and illustrations. Writing on a smooth porcelain surface makes sharing information in schools, laboratories, clubs and business easier, and custom color trims and surfaces could add a little more impact to your presentations.

Choose from three standard colors of writing surfaces :

Porcelain enamel steel chalkboards have a smooth surface and ensures unexcelled chalking and erasing qualities. Blackboards have been a staple in the educational process for over 200 years, but not like this! We've added color to this basic style and durability of steel and a Mylar moisture barrier backing to create a long lasting performer. Writing surface is colorfast and stain resistant and has outstanding chalking and writing qualities.

This chalkboard is completely assembled and framed at the factory and shipped ready to hang on the wall. Angle clip hardware is enclosed for wall mounting. The 16 A adhesive is recommended to prevent bounce on boards over 4' x 8', but is not necessary and will depend on personal preference and the need to move the writing board in the future.

Twenty-four colorful powder coated finishes for your custom made chalk board frame:  Three of the trims below are standardly available for immediate purchase. Those are Traffic Black (RAL9017), Silver Grey (RAL7001), and Cobalt Blue (RAL5013). Contact customer service if you are interested in ordering any of the other powder trim finishes.

Understanding Powder Coating and why it is an unbeatable trim choice for custom made chalk boards: Unlike conventional enamels that are sprayed and baked, our powder coatings are a combination of paint particles and resin electrostatically charged and applied to the product's metal surface. The metal, which has been electrically grounded, magnetically attracts and holds the coating mixture. The product with coating applied is then passed through curing ovens to fuse the powder mixture to the surface. The final result is a highly durable, extremely smooth finish that is free of unsightly runs or drips. Benefit - an environmentally friendly process that:

• Requires no solvents; produces no air emissions
• Can be applied with no runs, drips or sags
• Is more durable than traditional baked enamel finishes
• Is scratch and impact resistant
• Offers a wide range of decorative, functional colors

• Prior to initial use, wash the board to remove grime that may be left on its surface.
• Following a "chalking in" process can help ensure the surface is ready for smooth writing and erasing. To do so, chalk the entire surface of the completely dry board using the side of a white chalk. Next, work the chalk into the surface using a felt eraser in a circular motion on the chalkboard's surface. Last, clean the board with a soft, cotton cloth or quality dry chamois. A faint "chalked in" look is normal for a properly cleaned board.
• Do not wash regularly as this is not necessary for this porcelain steel surface; Do not use aerosol spray-type board cleansers; Do not use abrasive cleaners.
• When stubborn stains persist, you may wash the board using ordinary kitchen cleansers such as Ajax or Comet that is flushed thoroughly with water; then dry using a soft cotton cloth or chamois.
