Indirect Fluorescent Lamps
Fluorescent Lamp - Indirect Lighting Fixtures for your Office Panels
- This slim-lined lamp surrounds you with ambient light |
|
 |
|
Ambient lighting is the type of lighting in an area that provides general
illumination. It is essential in offices as it helps to
remove sharp contrast between potential dark areas and computer screens. Different than personal task lights,
which are best focused on particular paper or work surface-based projects,
pleasing ambient lighting, especially when combined with a task light in
your work area, can help ensure ergonomic vision wellbeing.
Two models of
panel lamps are available in similar design, and both measuring 47.84"L. Slim tubular styling
is designed to mount along the top of office panels and provide indirect
general illumination. One model provides illumination with two T5
high-output 3500K bulbs. The other model houses two 40 watt
compact fluorescent 3500K lamps and includes a linear prismatic lens. To
achieve optimal coordination with your office decor, these desk lighting ambients may be ordered in
any of several available colors.

The overall
length of these
contemporary
tubular styled
lamps is 47.84"L
and the
rounded tube is
4" in diameter. The
housing itself
is extruded
aluminum with
stamped 14-gauge
steel end
plates. It is
then finished
with a baked
enamel coating
in a choice of
colors.
As you can see
in graphic at
left, two bulbs
rest end to end
inside the
housing. Your
light includes
two bulbs, and
the distinction
between the two
models available
is the type of
bulb each is
designed to
accept:
uses two T5 high
output lamps
which produce
approximately 45%
more initial
lumens than a
standard T5 lamp
of similar size.
Their end caps
are flat to
match the body.
The average life
of these bulbs
is 16,000 hours,
which translates
to lower lamp
replacement cost
as well as lower
resultant labor
costs. Compared
to incandescents
and halogens,
these lamps
operate cooler,
with resultant
reduction in
office cooling
costs. These
lamps have a
Color Rendering
Index (CRI) of
85, making it
the most color
accurate
fluorescent
source available
presently.
utilizes two 40W compact fluorescent
lamps. These
provide
an average life
of approximately
20,000 hours.
Its CRI rating is 82 so
it, too,
provides a more
natural color to
objects, though
not as accurate
as that of T5
high output
lamps described
earlier. This
particular lamp
also
incorporates a
Batwing lens
(linear
prismatic, shown
at left) with
ridges and
valleys running
perpendicular to
the user. This
reduces the
amount of
reflected light
that can bounce
off the work
surface and back
up into the eyes
of the user. |
|
Depending on
which model you
select, yours
will either work
with two T5 high
output lamps or
two 40W compact
fluorescent
bulbs laid end-to-end as shown
in the graphic
above.
Both models use
an electronic
ballast,
providing
several
advantages over
a magnetic
ballast. First,
electronic
ballasts
decrease energy
costs because
they operate at
cooler
temperatures.
Second, due to
their solid
state
construction,
audible humming
(which is often
associated with
magnetic
ballasts) is
eliminated.
Third, flicker
caused by
voltage
fluctuations is
minimized.
Fourth, this
ballast
eliminates
interference
with Video
Display
Terminals (VDTs)
through the
omission of
electro magnetic
interference
(EMI). |
